The Department:
Founded in 1971 by the Jamner Taluka Education Society with the noble objective of aiding economically disadvantaged students, the Arts and Commerce College has emerged as a leading institution contributing significantly to the overall educational progress of the region. Widely recognized in Maharashtra for its strong academic ethos and unwavering commitment to values, the institution promotes morality through various activities such as debates, tourism, N.C.C., N.S.S., social and cultural events. The Marathi department, established in June 1971, stands as a testament to this commitment.
The region of Khandesh, where the college is situated, is blessed with a rich cultural heritage, boasting illustrious poets such as Bahinabai Chaudhari, Balkavi Thombre, K. Narkhede, and many others.
About Marathi Department:
The Marathi Department, established in June 1971, holds a pivotal position in the college. Shri. J.G. Khadke served as the first head of the department from June 1971 to 1994, followed by Dr. Sau. S.G. Narkhede until 2009. Currently, Dr. S.B. Patil has been leading the department since 2009. Presently, Mr. Dr. A.K. Ghorpade and Dr. V.V. Patil have joined the department, enriching it further, and Marathi has evolved into a fulfilled department with the introduction of postgraduate studies.
Aims and Objectives of the Department:
- Teaching Moral Principles: To impart moral principles through the study of Marathi literature, fostering values and ethics among students.
- Developing Writing Skills: Enabling students to proficiently write personal letters, applications, scriptwriting, and expand their ideas through essays.
- Cultivating Interest in Marathi Literature: Fostering a genuine interest in Marathi literature and language, encouraging students to appreciate and engage with their cultural heritage.
- Building Basic Language Skills: Developing fundamental language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the Marathi language.
- Promoting Self-Study Habits: Instilling the habit of self-study among students, encouraging independent learning and research within the realm of Marathi language and literature.
