INTRODUCTION
The Department Of Sociology was established in , July 1993.Mr.Bhalchandra
- Patil was appointed as a lecturer in Sociology in September 1993.He has been working as the Head Of the Department since the very beginning of the Department. Sociology is taught at U.G.level in the college.
Different Programmes offered by the Department:
Sociology is taught at U.G. level as a General subject. The following papers are introduced in the syllabi framed by North Maharashtra University for the F.Y.,S.Y.,& T.Y.B.A. classes.

Innovations in Teaching and learning process:
Some Innovations in Teaching and Learning Process at departmental as well as at an individual Teacher Level some special activities are undertaken by the department and Teacher himself. These activities are supportive to the curriculum as well as helpful in the personality development of the students. Some of these are as follows
Department level programs
- Projects and their Presentation
Some Projects are given to the students especially from S.Y.B.A & T.Y.B.A classes. They worked on the current and burning issues in the Indian Society observed at local level.
This practice has created research attitude among the students. The first hand and very basic knowledge about the research project is provided to the student by this practice. Preparation and Presentation of these projects made group wise. One of the member students of each group made presentation and other members are participated in the general discussion on the topic. This has developed group culture among the students.
- Individual Innovation by Teachers:
- Used interactive methods in Teaching & Learning
- Organized Seminars at the classroom
- Assigned Projects to the students. Discussed aims, objectives & Probable areas of projects with the students.
- Introduced presentation method for oral / practical exams
Plan
- Discussion on exercises after the teaching of each unit
- Setting of objective questions for developing self learning habits.
- A few periods were allotted for seminar of students
- Topics were discussed for communication skills, text based items of previous years to understand and develop writing skills & preparation of projects
Results
The above practices were proved to be helpful to the learners.
They learned to established relevance in local and global aspects of a text.
They learned to adopt communications skill and use them effectively.
4 Department of Sociology during Pandemic: The epidemic black was very rough, frightening and huge challenging for all. In such cases, the educational status was made to all levels so that the educational status is not to be collapse. The Department of Sociology, in which the University and the government, in the last instructions and governments given by the University and the Government, has been able to continue continuously by accepting new remedies in the education system. In this, the following issues can be included mainly.
1.Online Lectures: All the lectures are taken in line with this period. By using Google Meat or Zoom, they were tried to harm the students through them using them. Not only the study lectures, but in these circumstances, information about their health, family related and other conditions.
2.Whats App Groups: Through the WhatsApp Group was constantly contacted with the students. Throughwise, they were provided in study material. In this, the notes in PDF format, the Power Points Presentation slides included. You Tube channel’s link and interference information.
- Online Examinations: During this period, the element tests of students, practice exams and the main examination taken by the University; Was organized. For this, the Sociology Department has organized additional practice sessions.
5 Community Services carried out by the Department: Community
Services were rendered by the members of the faculty by assisting in various elections as per the govt. orders. They participated in Community Services through the membership of local organizations. Students of the department rendered community services through N.C.C., N.S.S. and such units of the college.
