THE COLLEGE:

Established in 1971 with the guiding motto “Satyam Vadam Dharmam Charam,” Jamner Taluka Education Society’s Arts & Commerce College has been a beacon of educational excellence since its inception in Jamner, Dist. Jalgaon. Over the years, the college has played a pivotal role in fostering proficiency, competency, and instilling cultural, social, and national values through a diverse range of curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. Today, it stands as a distinguished educational institution in North Maharashtra, with its Commerce Department serving as a cornerstone of academic distinction.

THE COMMERCE DEPARTMENT:

The Commerce Department, a vital component of the college, was established in June 1971 and has since become a flagship representation of the commerce faculty. Helmed by Dr. A. K. Raut, Dr. R. D. Wagh, and Dr. Ameya C Lohar, heads of the Departments of Accountancy, Business Administration, and Commerce and Business Law respectively, the department offers a spectrum of programs crafted by North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, at the undergraduate level. While postgraduate classes were initially initiated in 1986, they were temporarily suspended in 1993. However, with renewed vigor, P.G. classes resumed their efficient operation in 2004-05 along with Certificate courses in E-banking The Commerce Department is committed to imparting advanced knowledge and skills to students, utilizing an array of resources, including standard commercial and financial journals in English, Marathi, and Hindi available through the college library. Beyond classroom instruction, the department provides practical training through extension activities, such as visits to banks, industrial units, and firms. The Commerce Department is equipped with a well-furnished Computer lab, an L.C.D. Projector, and a dedicated departmental library. The department has Established with Recognised research center in 2023.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The Commerce Department operates with a set of clear objectives at both U.G. and P.G. levels. These encompass instilling commercial awareness, offering exposure to business practices, fostering a fair background consciousness in relation to business, trade, industries, management, co-operation, communication, and various business relationships. Additionally, the department aims to provide insights into business environments, orient students to new trends in commerce, introduce interdisciplinary approaches, and create awareness of the globalized business landscape. With a focus on statistical, geographical, financial, and economic approaches, the department aspires to develop overall business awareness and equip students with the competence to succeed in competitive examinations such as NET/SET, MPSC, UPSC, MCM, MBA, CA, ICWA, among others.
