Established in 1971 with the guiding motto "Satyam Vada Dharmam Chara," Jamner Taluka Education Society’s Arts and Commerce College has been a beacon of educational excellence. The institution expanded its horizons in 1989 with the inception of the Science faculty in Jamner, Dist. Jalgaon. The college is dedicated to shaping individuals with proficiency, competency, and a strong foundation in socio-cultural and national values. This commitment is actualized through a holistic approach that encompasses curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities, reflecting the college's mission to nurture well-rounded individuals.

Distinguished as an esteemed and renowned educational institution in the North Maharashtra Area, the college is synonymous with quality education and holistic development. Among its major departments, the Department of Physics stands as a pivotal contributor within the Science faculty.

The Physics Department, established in June 1989 at the F.Y.B.Sc. level, has witnessed natural growth, expanding to include S.Y.B.Sc. in 1990. Under the dedicated efforts of Dr. R. H. Bari and Mr. A. S. Sabadra, the department took significant strides. The introduction of T.Y.B.Sc. (Physics) in 1991 marked another milestone, accompanied by the addition of Dr. R. S. Khadayate to the staff for further development. The team expanded with the appointment of Mr. S. R. Thosare in 1992. Presently, the department offers physics courses at the undergraduate level, boasting a well-equipped laboratory. The department comprises four lecturers, a lab assistant, and two lab attendants, all contributing to the dynamic academic environment. Dr. R.H. Bari served as the Head of the department for 25 years until June 2017 when the mantle was passed to Prof. R. S. Khadayate, ensuring the continuity of leadership and commitment to academic excellence. The Physics Department at Jamner Taluka Education Society’s Arts and Commerce College stands as a testament to the institution's dedication to providing quality education and fostering the intellectual and personal growth of its students.

  1. Aims and Objectives of the Department

The purpose of Studies in physics is to enable students to grasp systematically the basic knowledge of the subject needed for the further study of modern science and technology and to understand its applications.

The following are the aim and objectives of Department of Physics –

  • To create interest amongst students in Physics.
  • To familiarize the students with the important roll played by physics in their day to day life.
  • To enlighten the students about the role of physics in social life.
  • To develop scientific attitude and scientific temper amongst the students.
  • To develop a scientific work culture.
  • To provide training to students in method of Science.
  • To make the students aware of the proper use of basic knowledge of Physics for the betterment of human beings.
  • To develop standards of students both in personal and professional life.
  • To cultivate and activate materialistic view point among the students.
  • To develop personalities for co-existence and better human relations.
  • To introduce new currents in Physics and Science in general and prepare them to meet new challenges in the field.

Main objective of the subject is to provide opportunities to students so that they may acquire knowledge through self-experience in class rooms and lab situations. It is an accepted fact that students at this level have potentials to develop. They need to be motivated to use their abilities and skills usefully and think critically. This becomes possible through certain activities as problem solving projects and such scientific / experimental activities.

SKILL + KNOWLEDGE = ABILITY

All aims and objectives and the process of acquisition of knowledge are directed in such a way that students can develop their ability easily.

  1. Infrastructure of the Department:

Built up area of the Department including laboratory is 223.5 square-meters.

2) Dark Room

3)  Computer room

4) Staff room (02)

5) Research Room

The department of Physics is having the following facilities-

Computer with internet facility, O.H.P, Departmental library etc.

  • Equipment's:- Audio visual aids, audio-video cassettes (in the central library), computer with internet etc. are available for the benefit of the students. The physics laboratory is   used by F.Y. B.Sc. S.Y. B. Sc., T. Y. B.Sc. for their practicals and projects and research work.
